Datawatch Announces Availability of Monarch V.9.0--World's Leading Report-Mining and Analysis Solution, Supports Microsoft(R) Windows Vista(TM) and Extends Excel Capabilities
Tuesday February 27, 9:00 am ET
Includes 5X faster Excel exporting, Microsoft SharePoint(R) collaboration, exporting to Open XML spreadsheets and more

CHELMSFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Datawatch Corporation (NASDAQ-CM: DWCH), a leader in the rapidly growing Enterprise Information market, today announces general availability of Monarch Version 9.0, the latest release of the Company's report mining and analysis solution. In 1991, Datawatch pioneered report-mining technology and is the recognized world leader in helping users unlock vast amounts of critical data buried in reports and other static business documents. With Monarch Version 9.0, Datawatch continues to innovate, and introduces key enhancements that allow companies to extract maximum value from report and data content, and immediately transform that information into meaningful data to solve critical business problems.
"When we sat down two years ago to map out the next version of Monarch, the decision where to start was easy. According to our surveys, over 95% of Monarch customers use Monarch with Microsoft Excel," said John Kitchen, Senior Vice President, Desktop and Server Solutions for Datawatch. "Dramatically speeding up Excel exports as well as allowing users to virtually eliminate manual work in Excel with Monarch V9 was a given. But as we learned from our surveys, support calls, online forums and direct conversations with thousands of customers it was clear that users wanted much more; increased analytical power, collaborative tools, enhanced report mining, improved PDF capabilities, integration with SharePoint, new database functionality and last, but not least, the ability to run on new Windows Vista. With Monarch V9, we delivered," added Kitchen.

Monarch allows business users to easily extract, analyze and export data from existing reports--without programming--putting an end to flipping through thick reports and re-keying data into spreadsheets, or waiting for IT to provide access to needed data. Monarch Pro offers all of the functionality of Monarch, plus allows users to combine and import data from additional data sources, such as databases or spreadsheets, as well as extract data from HTML and PDF files.

"We are especially interested in the new Excel related features in Monarch V9, including exporting Monarch summary data with sub-totals and grand totals as Excel formulas," said Jon Donohoo, Western Manager of Operations for Loomis, Fargo & Co., a leader in cash handling services. "Monarch V9 is a leap forward on many fronts: new Excel functionality, new collaboration tools, and new report mining power to mine data from more complex reports. Monarch V9 will expand our productivity even further," added Donohoo.

Enhanced Exporting to Excel - The Monarch V9 new Excel exporting engine runs up to 5X faster than previous versions.
Summary Export to Excel - Formulas, outlining and conditional formatting have been implemented for summary export to Excel.
Open XML Spreadsheet Support - Monarch V9 can export Excel 2007 OpenXML spreadsheets (xlsx), allowing users to take full advantage of the new functionality and dramatically increased spreadsheet capacity of Excel 2007.
Summary Sub-totals and Grand Totals Export to Excel as Formulas - Monarch V9 now exports the values and formulas, allowing users to make revisions to Excel files without worrying about sub-total/grand total errors.
Excel Autofilter - Users have the option to automatically invoke the Excel AutoFilter when they open an exported file in Excel.

Enhanced PDF Report Publishing - Users can republish reports as PDFs. The PDF export looks just like the report, but contains bookmarks dynamically generated from the Monarch tree index for ease of navigation. Password protected encryption and permission controls add security to exports from report window, table and summary. Adobe Acrobat is not required.
Improved PDF Mining (Monarch Pro only) - Users can now import data from AES-encrypted PDF files. Improvements have also been made to the PDF importing, based on real-world customer feedback. Many PDF source files process much more quickly than with Monarch V8.

Dramatically improved report mining capabilities - Monarch V9 now lets users define up to 22 templates (up from 12 in Monarch V8); define detail templates up to 256 lines long (up from 64); set traps on any line in a footer template; and use new NOT trapping logic.
Customizable User-Defined Functions - Monarch V9 lets users create their own functions that appear just like Monarch's own functions when building calculated fields and filters. Additionally, Monarch Pro V9 lets users share their User-Defined Functions with other Monarch users, quickly and easily, via the network or SharePoint, to ensure consistency across the entire organization.
Long Formula Support - The Monarch V9 Expression Editor now accepts formulas up to 32,767 characters long (up from 4,096).
Link to External Models (Monarch Pro V9 only) - Users can now import or link any model object, such as individual templates, data fields, filters, Calculated Fields, sorts, summaries, User-Defined Functions and more, from models residing on the network or SharePoint repository, ensuring company-wide Monarch consistency.
Increased Database Functionality (Monarch Pro V9 only) - Monarch Pro V9 adds the capability of importing data from OLE DB and ODBC data sources. Monarch Pro V9 is much faster than before in opening databases, and lets users define highly precise data filter expressions to target only the data needed. There are 22 Monarch functions now available for database mining use.

Monarch V9 Standard and Professional Editions require Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, XP Home/Professional, Windows 2003 Server or Windows Vista. Monarch V9 installs in minutes and can read model files and portable report files created with earlier versions of Monarch.

Monarch V9 Standard and V9 Professional Editions are available immediately. Monarch V9 Standard Edition's MSRP is $699 for a single user and $2,649 for a network of four users. Monarch V9 Professional Edition's MSRP is $849 for a single user and $3,399 for a network of four users. A single user upgrade from V8 Standard Edition to V9 Standard Edition is $209. BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Datawatch Corporation (NASDAQ-CM: DWCH), a leader in Enterprise Information Management, today announces general availability of Datawatch BDS|Workflow, the company's web-enabled enterprise business process management solution. Targeting enterprises that have document intensive business processes, such as loan processing, new account application, accounts payable, insurance claims and purchase requisition, BDS|Workflow offers a full feature set designed to save companies time and support both internal controls and external regulations.
According to Gartner, Inc., the worldwide market for pure-play BPM software is forecast to post double-digit growth rates reaching $1.1 billion by 2009, with most of that growth originating in the emerging integrated suite segment. BDS|Workflow is designed to address this market need and fully integrate with the Datawatch|BDS document archive system, which provides for centralized management of document images, reports, customer correspondence, statements and e-mail.

BDS|Workflow is exceptional in that it can automatically initiate a new workflow based on receipt of a new document within the Datawatch|BDS archive. With the addition of this module, archived enterprise content is transformed into actionable information; empowering companies to more effectively manage and see their business processes to completion.

"Based on our users' real world workflow needs, Datawatch designed the BDS|Workflow module to initiate a workflow task automatically whenever a new document of a specified type is archived," said John Kitchen, chief marketing officer for Datawatch. "We see this as an important differentiator since it immediately archives and protects the initiating document and thereby enables stronger controls and accountability. With significant growth forecast for this market, we are confident that our workflow solution will strengthen our position as a leader in enterprise information management by helping companies turn documents into actionable information."
