Couple of thoughts just off the cuff about TMF article. Debt to cash flow 3:1 is bad? This means cash flow(annual pays all debt in 3 years). Sounds like a financially solid company. He ignores historic low natural gas prices and WTI due to oil being trapped for lack of outlets. Since months ago, WTI and natural gas have made tremendous improvement, logistics getting better all the time and new management too. The MLPs he cites and loves are good companies BUT....these are pass through entities. Within the next 18 months, MLPs will get taxed as part of the loopholes cut to lower overall corporate tax rates. MLP dividends will be cut, cost of capital will rise and share prices will plunge...not a certainty but a significant risk. The Fools are truly that.
