    • One thing to consider is that PGH ex-dividend day before ER release day. If someone care for every penny, would already have sold position to not bet on earning(or sold call to collect premium) because PGH is relatively fair valued stock.

PWE ex-dividend day will be end of this month. Fund managers usually would not dump their position before that unless something is really bad from ER.

      • OK, after reading your post again, now I see what you meant by "ex-dividend day before ER release day"; I first read it as you literally saying "the day before". I'm not sure how much hanging on to collect a dividend really means to a Fund manager, since if he sells prior to ex-div day, he's still in effect getting the dividend, which at that point is still part of the stock's price. Anyway, we'll know soon enough what PWE has to say.....

      • HUH? The ex-dividend date for PGH's next dividend payment was February 21st; Earnings Release didn't come out until yesterday. I think I understand what you're trying to say, but make sure you've got your facts straight....your argument will be a bit more believable......

    • Greetings, harrytcpw. Enerplus also got knocked back a few percent on Earnings Release day, but has since at least partially recovered. Unless Penn West's results are a lot better than expected, I'm kind of expecting them to get the same treatment when their results come out. We'll know soon enough.....

    • PGH 4th quarter really shouldn't have been a surprise with the wider spread for heavy oil. PGH stock price was bought up before the earnings release and investors had higher expectations whereas PWE is in the dog house and 50% lower from last quarter and a weak 4th quarter mostly priced in. Hopefully PWE gives more guidance for the 1st quarter and year than PGH did.
