How much silver is in a silver tea set??? I can't find a name on the bottom, just a insignia shaped like a house with a "W" inside. My wife found it a yard sale for $100. It has several pieces...8 I think. Any Pawn brokers out there??
No... not sterling . I found a small stamp on bottom of tray."silver on copper". Maybe if I keep it til copper goes back to $4 and silver goes to $30, I might have half what my wife gave for it. Oh well you won't see me on public television at the appraisal show.
It has to be stamped with 92.5 or Stlg or sterling or else it is likely stamped EPB for electro plated brass or EPN for electo plated nickel...if it doesn't have the Sterling silver designations I first mentioned then it isn't worth $20...A sterling type designation stamp with a reputable silver smith's hallmark is best...so "Stlg Birks"...or "92.5 Birks"....would tell you it is sterling (92.5%) silver with small amount of copper for strength.
If sterling it is probably worth more as an antique than melted for the silver.
