    Pagan Holiday Schedule 21-5 December

Did you know there is a religious faith that condemns you to eternal hellfire if you don't believe in just the right god, and sects inside that faith that believes you need to believe in that god in just the right way, and other sects have it so wrong THEY'LL go to hell also? And if you aren't a member of one of those sects, you can't succeed in business, will be passed over for promotion, unless you play along in open and hypocritical fashion? Take you time guessing which one. I've time.

If you think that's bad, wait till I tell you about radical Muslims. And before you get too wrapped around the axle, I am as tolerant of them, as they are me, and they AREN'T. I threaten their world by just existing, let alone being openly agnostic.

All of these people are terrifying one step short of an inquisition, 700 short years removed from torturing you to death if you don't believe in their myth package. I mean TERRIFYING. Don't even THINK of getting in the way of their Disney land after life prognostications, yourdeadmeat69 times over. And their good book sanctions blowing the living crap out of other human beings, in a political tie between church and state, born of expediency control and power, not godly sanction?

And you wonder why only 20% come forward and openly advise they've no "faith".

Well, a part of that myth package expiates the conscience once a year by buying retail, the other unholy leg of the military church industrial trifecta.

Next week we get to guage just how well the economy will be doing, as 500B waits in the wings to be flooded upon an economy that looks remarkably like chicks in a nest peeping for mommy bird's beakful of worms.

Here's next week's economic calendar. I have to get back to my church....

Take Friday off to commemorate one tortured Jew. Try not to remember the 20 million abandoned and sequestered in the middle east in the dessert in 1948 in a "back to Africa" equivalent no black would ever tolerate. It sure is great to have people at psychological disadvantage, isn't it?

    • The only way we get healthy in housing is for new home sales to stay in the toilet. Too much inventory is what's getting us in trouble in the first place. MORE inventory is bad news.

Maybe they'll lie about these numbers better than they lied about GDP last quarter.

    • The fact that you made this post on a financial message board says a lot. You are searching for answers. I hope you find them.

    • Third party mythical creations made of whole cloth do not make morals "for" me, however easy it is to fabricate them and imbue characteristics that make them easy to follow, or identify with. Humanizing or demonizing mythology makes it easy to digest. It proves nothing. And certainly, no matter how lofty those Christian sentiments, those who lead the believers have led them astray for decades.
I either respect others as I do myself, or I don't. I either accept truths as they are, or not. I happen to live in what people refer to as the greatest country in the world. That country has stolen most of its land from Indians in a history of 250 years of genocide, committed atomic war on its enemies, and is now in the process of stealing oil from third world beduins who were unhappily unlucky enough to be born atop fields of it. So much for the practical effects of a Christian nation. Which is to say, self flagellation and expiation of sins, so that sins can be committed afresh the very next week. Sins against humanity, crimes against nature.
As for arrogance and abuse, those are two of my best traits. I call a spade a spade.

    • YDM, what prompted you to antagonize religious people on this message board? Of all the things you could do with your time, you decided to speak out here about religion.

I happen to believe that God used you to stir people's thoughts about who they are and whether this is all there is from an eternal perspective. Yep, I think you're part of the plan. I hope you enjoy the ride...

    • YDM..If you equate God with the forces and laws of the universe..then you gotta think about becoming a Pantheist. A pantheist is defined as a self-proclaimed atheist who believes in the forces of laws of the universe. Are Buddhists atheist? They don't believe in we (many of us) perceive him...or heaven or hell...

They have societal rules to live by which have very similar characteristics of the Judea-Christian ethic which abound the western world..yet, with a few exceptions, they have had a relatively peaceful existence of late compared to the US (defending itself ya right)for the last 50 years.
Do you believe in the treatise of global warming? Are you a nature believer? If so, these are ingredients that every successful religion needs to rock..a crusading spirit, a rigorous set of rules to live by, and a real live threat of an apocalypse. Consider Pantheism! Any belief is better than none. This is one you might be able to live with.

Pantheism opens up life experiences for people uncomfortable with the literal-mindedness of the monotheistic religions, miracle-working deities, holy books, virgin births and resurrected bodies.

Attributing divinity to the natural world helps bring a deity closer to the human experience, while depriving him of human recognizable personal traits. For those who are frustrated at the idea of a demanding God interfering in human affairs, this is a pretty good combo..Albert Einstein’s expression of religious is to awe at the beauty and sublimity of the universe..The question is whether nature actually deserves a religious response...That's yours to answer.

Theism deals with the problems of good/evil: If God is good, why does he allow suffering and death? But, confusingly, nature allows (is) suffering and death. Its harmonies require violence. Its “circle of life” is really a cycle of mortality.

    • There's other religous zealots besides radical muslims. Dont let the media fool you.

*Mind is the forerunner of all mental conditions,
      mind is chief, mind-made are they;
if a person speaks or acts with an evil mind,
      then suffering will surely follow
just as the wheel follows the hoof of the ox.

Mind is the forerunner of all mental conditions,
      mind is chief, mind-made are they;
if a person speaks or acts with a pure mind,
      then happiness will surely follow
like a (cool) shadow that is never left behind.

      Anecdotal Buddhist for Beginners Tale:

An Irishman, a Mexican and a Swede were doing construction work on the 20th floor of a new building. They were on lunch break and the Irishman said, “Corned beef and cabbage again! If I have to eat this for lunch one more time, I am going to jump off this building!”

The Mexican opened his lunchbox and exclaimed, “Burritos again! If I get burritos one more time, I’m gonna leap off of here too!”

The Swede opened his lunch bag and said, “Uff da, lefse again! If I hafta eat lefse for lunch one more time, I’m gonna take a leap off of here!”

The next day, the Irishman found corned beef and cabbage and jumped to his death. The Mexican found you-know-what and jumped too. The Swede found lefse and leapt after them.

At the funeral, the Irishman’s wife was weeping and declared that if she had known how tired of corned beef he was, she would never have served it again. The Mexican’s wife said the same about her burritos. Then everyone stared at the Swede’s wife who was weeping profusely:
“Don’t look at me, he packs his own lunch...”

Well, Don't we all pack our own lunches?? Happy Holidays

      *Buddhist Basic Principles 101

    • I happen to believe in Christianity, but I would very happy if people would just keep their damn religions to themselves. Religion has done more harm to this world than any other system invented by mankind.

    • You gotta believe in something YDM and I sure as hell am not putting MY FAITH in a morally corrupt HUMANITY.

While you're at it why don't you talk about how destructive and loathsome atheism is. Let's see, communism has killed at least 100 million people between Mao, Stalin, Polpot. The inquisition MAY HAVE killed 1 million after adjusting for population growth between then and now (actual deaths were 200k). That's a 100:1 difference.

Merry Earth Day or whatever the hell you celebrate.

      • As Bodium pointed out, my mom would have said, keep god in your heart and quit shoving him up my ass.

I would suggest that the guilt by association, suppressive regimes that promote the lack of "competition" for the masses limited brain power, is as worthless as depicting faith arising from pedofile priests with one hand in the collection plate, and the other up an alter boys pants.

I don't clain god doesn't exist, what I claim is, setting us up as an ant farm so that we destroy each other for his amusement makes me just a little sanguine when it comes to worshipping this "creator".

Couch potato gods disgust me, real, imagined, or whatever. The zealots who decree their infallibility, that's just more drippings from the turd of organized religion.
