    • I don't read any righ wing propaganda... Luckily, as a Canadian, I don't need to listen to the crap, to which the majority of you Yanks are exposed. I am speaking strictly from personal experience.

And just because something works for Germany doesn't necessarily mean it will work for the US.

Teachers Unions are one of the worst. Regardless of what a teacher does, or how poor of a teacher they are, they can continue to teach with the backing of the union.

Until unions realize that their members are not infallible they will continue to be a useless hinderance to productivity.

    • <<I know far too many stories >>

Stop reading right wing propaganda created by David Koch's think tanks and you won't hear all those stories. In the real world union workers are highly productive. The states without union teachers are at the bottom on SAT tests of their students.

Why does Germany have a stronger economy that the US? It is because they have strong unions. The men who do the work and manufacture a product deserve to be rewarded for their labor.

    • Yes, slavery is the obvious next step.

Unions breed corruption and are filled with people who have a sense of entitlement for their overpaid and underworked position.

We don't live in a time where unions are required for a safe work environment and a decent wage / workload.

I believe that people should be fully accountable for their work and be required to put in a solid effort for their pay or that position should be filled with someone who will. I know far too many stories regarding the power of union and its members where they simply drive the protitability of a company into the ground.

    • <<unions are the root of all evil and should be abolished>>

Do you also advocate to bring back slavery? Unions keep the standard of living up. Strong unions in Germany have prevented the exporting of jobs and keept Germany exports of manufactured good strong for a positive balance of trade. Because of unions Germany has a strong economy.

    • I took your bait and clicked on the link, and, lo and behold, it is a bunch of conjecture and guesswork and nothing factual any more than stringing together events and calling them conspiracy.

    • It seems I struck a nerve...You boys feeling a bit sheepish?

    • David Koch planned the tea party 5 years ago. He set up conservative think tanks to create the propaganda and organized the structure long before Rich Santelli played his roll.

      http://politicalchili.com/2010/03/origins-of-the-tea-party-movement%E2%80%94part-iiia/

On October 3, David Koch, the co-owner of Koch Industries, told about 2,000 of Americans for Prosperity’s libertarian activists at a Defending the American Dream Summit, that he had started planning the Tea Party movement five years ago—essentially when Citizens for a Sound Economy split into Americans for Prosperity and FreedomWorks.

    • <<$16T tburke credits him.>.

What is that all about. I never mentioned $16T. Get back to facts and reality, you cannot just make it all up.

    • sivr6651,

I don't see President Clinton's $5T surplus in national debt in the tables below. Looks like the national debt was approx. $4,4T when he came into office and increased to $5.7 when he left. Bush took it from there to $10T over 8 years, a disgusting amount notwithstanding the aftermath of 9/11, Wilma and two wars. Still it is nowhere near the $16T tburke credits him.

    • How do you suppose we ever have a chance of reinstituting Constitutionally bound government when the people don't even recognize it when it is discussed?

I think that the Bolshevik mindset has been deeply ingrained in the American psyche. Apparently Kruschev was deadly accurate when he said, "We will bury you."

See you at the fence line Comrades.
