the anger of the 99%ters. When you read stuff like this it's understandable. Man, what a crock of a system this has become...
Then also all the latest info on how congressmen and senators can trade on non public information. The little guy has "no chance" really.
Very sad and frustrating. But they took Martha Stewart to the cleaners. "They"? Get away with it all. When Hasckert (sp?) became speaker of the house he was an ex coach. When he finally retired he was worth over 11 million. How do you square that? Ok, I give up. Unless the system is straightened out it will collapse under it's own corrupt way.
My favorite was when Paulson took the Treasury job, he had to sell his Goldman stock...and because of the position he was taking, he was exempt from paying capital gains taxes.....so, he gets something like $100 MILLION of capital gains taxes straight to his checkbook.
Our country is doomed.
What's it all about, All4? Good to see you still in the game.
Can't win the traditional way, ABSORB the knowledge insiders will abound, and without recompense, except for the little guys so the big guys can sneak around under the radar unmolested.
That's why IMHO your hold position should be accompaniesd buy judicious call sales against your position.
It's not a Mars shot, but it's a healthy ways trip to the moon.
hello ydm. Yup, still crazy after all these years...:) Sort of went "heavy" into EXK (20K shares still am) and lightened up on SLW. Sold out damn near the top in Sept around the $41-$42 area and bought back in a bit early around $32 and sweated it out all the way to around $27 but hey, SLW been good to us all these years. Now only hold 4K shares and rest in cash. Times like this cash is king as 'yall know.
I have learned more about 'options' from you than from any other source. For that I am grateful. Problem is I have never sold covered options against my shares. Yup. Should have done that but the thing is 'the timing' of it. I am getting more conservative. Guess some of us are more interested in keeping our capital and no longer willing to risk losing portions of it. After all, how many lobsters can you really eat? Sometimes I feel guilty as hell that I am doing as well as I am when I look around and see so much misery. Unemployment. Abject poverty. Decent people trying their best to feed their families and not even being able to get a decent job. Makes you sick to your stomach. I have my hands full also with my family. My 96 year old mother just passed away this October. Been helping out my older brother who is on disability and actually just bought him a nice 1bdrm condo here in New Orleans. Hell of a deal on a bank foreclosure. At least for once I got a deal on something and he now has a nice place to live. Brother in law just got divorced and I had to lend him $7500 for his divorce. Imagine that. I am now telling everyone I am not a bank lest I lend out all my money until I am broke too down the road. Between that and oldest daughter getting married 1.5 years ago and now our youngest one fixing to get hitched up it's been pretty brutal on the fiat reserves. Thank goodness for PM's since 2002 and that I still have a thriving biz.
Anyhow, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Don't post much anymore but certainly check up on you guys frequently and enjoy all the musings and going ons...
p.s. now that Bernanke & Cronies have sort of opened up the spigot again, I've been adding... EXK & SLW oh yeah baby.... ahhhhhhhhhhhh
They look after themselves, and could care less about how the benefits they get effect you, me, and the companies we work for.
Consider how the pay and such of federal employees went up because of the last down turn, as much of the country is trying to buy food for their tables at ever increasing prices, you get the idea that they are not going to do much to stop the next pay raise...I mean down turn...
Hello news. Thank you. You are too kind. I try to follow up on you guys as often as I can. Sorry to hear about all your health problems. I truly hope that you can overcome your difficulties and recover as best you can. I appreciate your many insights and all the information you try to provide to your fellow investor cyber friends...
I lean more towards republicans than Democrats, but I remember John Boehner crying when he became House speaker, I thought at first that he was emotional about the position, but now I believe it was tears of how fifthy rich he will become.
