Broken Promises: Pensions All Over America Are Being Savagely Cut Or Are Vanishing Completely
“…Read it again, …”
It’s not worth it. These “poor” government workers currently have a better standard of living than everybody else. True, they do mention the private sector, and that they are faring worse, but the way it is written it is more like a footnote. Anyone in a hurry that reads this is likely to not come away thinking the emphasis is on the plight of private sector retirees, as it is NOT. Politicians have reacted very slowly to cut back on payrolls, whereas private industry has to do it immediately before bankruptcy court looms on the horizon. In the public sector politicians, such as mayors, governors and heads of Federal departments foot-drag the issue of layoffs to cut back on bloated Federal payrolls and benefits. Their solution, most often, is to raise taxes to make up the difference in revenues.
We should stop paying these outrageous pensions to government employess while those in the real world struggle and can no longer afford the politcians promises to pay those who create, for the most part, nothing.
Screw the government workers. They should never have been allowed to unionize in the first place. Any government worker collecting a pension under age 70 should go back to work.
You mean Dumbie Knows? Around these parts nobody listens to dumbies. You must go to the DC Beltway for that. Or maybe on the campaign circuit where intelligent discussion on basic economics ist verboten. There is only one intelligent candidate in the lot and the wage slave masters never can resist the urge to ignore him or shut him up. Only dumbies won’t be able to figure who that refers to. Unfortunately, there are a lot of them, or so the polls and the political pundits indicate.
