Price of Silver over the last 10 years have appreciated average 17.5%....

    Hi all,

I'm doing some homework and trying to understand what has happened in recent years with the price of silver, as it seems very important to the Earnings of SLW - no getting around it.

Well, Silver Institute has an article listing the AVERAGE Price for all the years except 2013 so I took a stab at it and just set it to the Price the other day 24.40, which is also what my "eyeball" tells me is conservative for this year.

    2003 4.88
    2004 6.66 +36%
    2005 7.31 + 9.8%
    2006 11.54 + 58%
    2007 13.38 + 16%
    2008 14.99 + 12%
    2009 14.67 - 2.13%
    2010 20.19 + 37%
    2011 35.12 74%
    2012 31.50 -10%

The year 2006 with 58% gain stands out! But 2011 with a 74% gain is even more of the
    exception!

Look at charts all you want, you can pick up trends and down trends but looking at this series of number one can get an idea of why 2012 was a Bad year for Silver! Because 2011 was "too good" !

The Magic percent gain that would have made the whole thing a nice smooth Ramp up is

    *****17.5 %****** PER YEAR

    Not such a bad investment.

    • Note that the Low Year of 2005 (9.8% appreciation) was Followed by a very high year with 58% gain
Then the Low Year of 2009 (-2.13% appreciation)was Followed by two very very high years of 37 then 74% gain

Seems to me this bodes well for 2013 to be a positive year, and indeed a most positive one.
