The unions have called a possible strike vote for next weekend. We will have to see what the actual offer is. Why do the companies have to do this to us again? Is it they see a chance to maybe break the union? I do not know. The Teamsters got a 5 years contract last year with a raise every year and no cuts in benefits. Why mess with the store employees when, without out us, no one has a job. I am not a union hack. I know we will have to pay more in todays times. Do not put us on strike again to try to prove a point. Just get it done. We cannot go on strike. The public is sick and tired of hearing about this kind of stuff. There will not be half the support as last time. Again, NO STRIKE.
I'm not a union hack either but when the company see's post like yours they know all they have to do is hold out and people like you will cave.
If you can't handle being a team and stick together with your union brothers and sisters maybe it's time for you to work elsewhere.
Yes, but if Albertson's closes 100 stores, then if later they reopen those stores, they have to be union according to the court ruling, since those stores were already union. Of course that does not mean that they cannot open new stores!
No one HAS to go out on strike!
Read your contract
You probably have to resign from the union, but still pay dues.
Only bad thing is going back to work later with those that carried signs while you crossed the line
We all have choices in life to make
Bahahahaha...The union is going to come to work one day in the near future..and find a padlock on the front gate. There will be a sign that reads: Closed.
As the Gordon Gekko's sell off the assets..
the unions will be wondering "what happened???"...."you're going to have the shortest career in history Bud"...
Man....I LOVE this game....
Stater Brothers is much cheaper with more locations in Southern Calif.
Target Stores now selling food too.
These Union clerks are not in touch with reality.
They may get their contract and not have a job in the end.
This is 2011 not 1991.
Unions will soon be on the endangered species list.
Usually shop Staters as they closed my Vons in my city though WalMart is much closer thus shop there too. I don't think I will shop Staters much this time around if the strike occurs. I also don't agree that their vote counts as much as the other members. Many will probably vote for the strike as they will not be out of a job during a strike and may even get more hours/overttime. Sweethearting is a joke.
We realize what year it is, and know that the time of great benefits is over. We will be willing to pay more for health care, but we need an offer from the companies. What we voted on the other day was as an incomplete offer as possible. After 6 months, no real offer at all.
And on one of your other notes, Stater Bros. in NOT cheaper than Vons.
We have one just down the street from us and the price comparison done weekly shows that.
I live in Bishop, CA and the last strike was terrible for the employees. I refused to cross picket lines and went shopping at a maw and paw store for weeks. None of the employees want to go through that mess again.
You don't have much choice......vote, support the vote or not. Your only way to voice back to the companies is to strike which sucks alright. Believe the last strike showed them there are many venues to shop and even much more now which they want to prevent to happen again.
