gt crystal systems spinoff company and hold near majority ownership?
I couldn't help but notice in the 10q (which is probably common language) that gtat may consider a merger or investment in another company. Also ceo comments that gtat doesn't plan to be a materials company although they also said in the 10q they plan to enter into sapphire laminate production.
This is pure speculation but given the motorola pos deal and the yet announced deal with xgear krystal, both materials sales, could gtat spin off gt crystal systems, maintain proprietary knowledge and sell furnaces to gt crystal for american made screens?
-That was interesting because it was stated by the CEO they were not looking for further m+a and was strictly focused on developing current products.
-GTAT's business model is changing, obviously. They are working with all new players with major cash outside of China which gets rid of time delay for rev recognition. Hicz may still work that way, but the other business models won't. New players here like Google, Apple, Cree, Veco, maybe First Solar, etc... all these companies have cash to spend for new products with quick shipments. Inventory is the issue here and the current ramp up period to have it. Backlog is no longer the issue, only Cash Flow is. GTAT is moving outside of China with product diversification.
-Remember. 5% Market adoption in just Cell Phones = minimum 3000 furnaces = 1.2 billion approx. for GTAT in 1 single business segment of their entire business portfolio. A large order behind the scenes can get GTAT's cash up fast to make other things happen.
-Gtat already has a major foot in the door with Google Motorola. And Ill tell you right now, Apple got both eyes wide open watching what Google's move may be with relation to sapphire. Apple is not going to sit there and watch google steal market share with a Sapphire phone.
