Demand for sapphire for handsets to grow 25-30%, says GTAT
Julian Ho, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DIGITIMES [Wednesday 23 October 2013]
Demand for sapphire for use in handsets is estimated to grow 25-30%, according to US-based crystal growth equipment and solution provider GT Advanced Technologies (GTAT).

GTAT has been promoting an HVPE (hydride vapor phase epitaxy) GaN system. HVPE systems will be used to produce GaN Epi layers on sapphire for LEDs, GTAT said, adding that the HVPE system is expected to reduce process costs and improve material properties.

Should hear some good things during the upcoming CC at least related to guidance. Shorts better cover while they can.
