    Kombucha, etc.

I was pleased to see that Kombucha is now showing up at co-ops here in Atlanta. Usually Whole Foods does their own regional distribution (I used to work there), so this means that a different regional distributor has their hands on CCK as well.

Also, the flavor profiles have changed slightly. I am tasting a new bitter component, almost reminiscent of baby-aspirin in a couple of the flavors. In any case, they seem to be tweaking the flavors, and they keep getting better. While before it seemed as if the Grapefruit Hibiscus was selling out, now I am having trouble finding Cranberry.

    • From what I can tell, CC Kombucha is selling well here in Atlanta. Everytime I go to Whole Foods or a co-op, shelves have a look of being picked over, i.e. well shopped. Cranberry was sold out at the co-op last night, and I bought the last two bottles on the shelf at Whole Foods this afternoon.

Also, while Natural Foods Warehouse in the northern suberbs was selling it for 2.49, Whole Foods, which had an initial price of 3.99, now has a price of 3.39, while co-ops have it at 3.69. So Reeds must be doing different pricing for different places, in different regions, natch.

On a final note, there is a large case stack of Virgils Root Beer as you walk in the front door at my local Whole Foods, priced at 3.99. Amazing how much more cardboard and glass is involved at 3.99 than at 3.39 for a single bottle of CC Kombucha.
