Reed's isn't available in my area yet, so I figured I give K my 1st try, just because I was so curious for so long.
Got the GT Synergy in Gingerberry the other day. It's not bad, certainly drinkable. A bit too much like apple cider vinegar, though. And somehow the bottle ended up leaking a little during the trip home (even though it was fully sealed).
Although I probably won't end up drinking it on a regular basis, for some reason I can kind of see how some people might get addicted to K... Has some sort of weird quality that I can't quite put my finger on.
So, for those who have sampled both, how does Reed's compare to GT / Synergy?
Way better than GT. I have been drinking the Reed's Kombucha weekly for a while and went back to trying the GT recently. No comparison. If Reed's can get their product out there and get people to switch over from the GT stuff, they will have a gold mine. I have had the 4 original flavors and the Coconut Water Lime. Haven't found the others yet.
The genius knows what to put into the bottle and now, the puzzle completion is execution. I think they get it Komb is a new business and so threading all the channel components must be flawless I.E market dist and sales. They are permitted to take the keys to the kingdom.
I tasted a few of Synergy's (plus original best seller). In my opinion, Reed's has a much more vibrant taste and is a stand alone in my eyes (plus better product ingredients). I've spoken with other folks who prefer Reed's over GT Synergy in taste. The field is evolving and Reed's doesn't need to go head to head with GT to be awarded best in category (wasted resources and category can support a number of players) Instead, Reed's must execute and sell what in itself is already a great tasting Kombucha (product should sell itself or come out in the spokesperson's enthusiasm selling it-period).
ridiculous. sells itself? nothing sells itself. and to say they can be be an also ran without recognition as best is so sad. you think the category will remain with two competitors? 30,000 cases. reeds makes GT laugh with its less than 1% of market share. dont be an apologist cheerleader for reeds. especially while the money should have been in jones! huh? what?
