Stopped by Wegmans today and picked up a 3.5-ounce bag of Reed's Crystallized Ginger. This stuff definitely packs some heat! Think of the Extra Ginger Brew, only 100 times stronger. My mouth was on fire during the first one, but you sort of get used to it after a while. Ingredients: "Diced baby ginger root, raw cane sugar and nothing else." If you like ginger, you should definitely give these a try. They aren't incredible, but they aren't awful, either. Certainly an acquired taste, but definitely quite a punch of ginger if that's what you're looking for. They come packed "loose" in a plastic resealable pouch. Cost me $2.29.
I also picked up 2-ounce box of Reed's Peanut Butter Ginger Chews. Ingredients: "Sugar, Peanut Butter, Tapioca Starch, Ginger." These come individually foil-wrapped, with 9 per box (minimum). They remind me of a softer, better version of Squirrel Nuts (candy), but also mixed with ginger. They aren't as strong as the Crystallized Ginger, but still pack a bit of a punch. As for the taste, I ate 7 of the 9, so obviously I think they're quite delicious. I will definitely be getting them again, and I highly recommend them. Cost me $1.59
Have you ever tried either of these before? What do you think?
