Looks like Trader Joe's has discontinued their private label vintage sodas that included a root beer. No more competitor with VIrgil's at TJ's and I'm already seeing more space being given to Virgil's Root Beer and Reed's Ginger Brew.
Not sure if Trader Joes PRIVATE LABEL brands were actually a competitor. Seems to me Reeds Inc, lost a lost a PL customer. I noticed the allocation of shelf space to Reed Ginger products at TJs too. Seems sales were off on the Ginger products as well. Does thos mean that a larger competitors will be able to step up?
TJ's is getting to be a has been org retailer- Sprouts towers over them. Reed's won't get rich selling Virgil's and RGB (at least shareholders won't). We need an explosion in the KOMBUCHA line up and that won't be likely without spend or partner. Reminds me of Ramtron RMTR- great products, promises forever and company finally sells out for a nominal sum$. Now- if new management came in like Kevin Klock, CEO of Talking Rain- then things could get off the ground after decades of treading water and blowing smoke!
Sprouts has 100+ stores, Trader Joe's has 400+. Reeds and Virgils are the only craft brewed Soda's TJ's carries and they sell a ton of them. Yeah, kombucha explosion and expansion would be great, but still good to see the soda expanding.
