Depends on what you call a gamble.
I still think there are too many vendors in this market for any one vendor to thrive. The key for them is annuities from inks and plates and no one is securing enough big guys - with all the competition now - to make it pay off. That has not changed in three years.
My purchase today is not for the long term. I'm expecting to dump it before the end of the year, unless Kodak starts securing some pretty big sales. The new players are better financed and could be buy their way into the market by offering discounts we would have a hard time matching.
What really should happen is someone acquire the inkjet business in at least three of the five players (Kodak, HP, Oce, Ricoh, and Screen), and possibly Panasonic and Impika.
Use Kodak and HP for technology development, and perhaps Ricoh for the service arm. Screen's customer base would be folded into Ricoh's since they OEM Ricoh's stuff anyway.
That, IMO, would be a good model.

You did a 180 within a few days, or a few hours ...
What has changed?
The business of EK in its current constallation will go down. The only chance they have is to do the same what they did 10 years ago. They acquired Scitex, Creo, KPG JV, NexPress from Heidelberg, etc., etc. Now, they are good at offset ... too bad, that's not the future ... To align the business another time will take pretty much all the money from the patent sale ... if they get less then $3B, they will likely put themselves on the block.
So, I guess, this stunt was a big gamble ?!
With all due respect, Mister Pro, the BOD's decision to keep AP at the helm is not understood. They should have dumped him and replaced him with Laura.

joe....weren;t you a bit late? Last week was much cheaper. Don't you believe in the charts??
My sell this am at .358 was based on the price being in the stratosphere compared to the upper BOLLINGER BANDS.A 95% sure bet to sell.Statistics are against it continuing.
Give the guy a break. I cannot begin too understand his frustration level with current management if he indeed works for Kodak. However, it looks like he will get rewarded in the end.
That's for true. Man, they put a LID on this FAST..lol.
Rumor is that they are moving the major players here at EK to a resort (Greenbriar??) until the announcement of the winner to control leaks etc. Yet to be confirmed. Anyone else heard this? Personally I don't believe it due to cost unless they are paying out of pocket.
