    The Russian impact

"As the U.S. and Europe try to find ways to undercut Putin's geopolitical influence, the crisis in Crimea provides the catalyst for the U.S. to go full throttle on natural gas," writes Jessica Rabe, a research analyst and part-time think-tank blogger. " Both Congress and the oil industry are pressuring the Energy Department to approve more permits for exports of liquefied natural gas to be delivered via tanker. The goal is to wean Europe and Ukraine from dependence on gas from Russia, thereby weakening Putin's greatest geopolitical asset." _ Note that this is not a quick fix as it take about 4 years to build a plant, but so far we have been having problems just getting these plants approved!

    • If Obama had any brain and actually "planned" ahead of the "game"...... the US would be there by now. But unfortunately a South Chicage Community Organizer has trouble understanding the World geo-political strategies............. When will we elect a "smart" individual instead of a career politician?

      • Obama is very smart but unfortunately I have to agree with you that he had little relevant experience when elected and continues to flounder. It is almost as if we elected a hippie from the 60's with great dreams but little reality behind them. Based on his antagonistic style and superiority complex it appears that there is no hope left for him to move the country in the right direction. I don't usually get overly political on my posts but in light of obvious policy mistakes that continue sometimes one just needs to shout out.
