    is 10.3% dividend sustainable?

dividend will probably be cut substantially because of need to invest in oil shale/refineries.

    • Disagree. The Repsol agreement by which they acquired YPF from the government requires most or all of the operating to be paid out as dividends. Unless Kirchner goes Castro on us, there should be ample funds to pay the dividend. The enormous costs of exploring the shale will be paid by joint ventures, secondary offerings and other equity raising devices.

    • 90% of profits, however with so much exploration profits are sure to fall. Not everything will be paid by the JV's if argentina follows through allowing FDI. It's not a problem if the div drops to invest in the growth of the company. If the stock drops from there I'll be a buyer of more shares on the conditon that the govt doesn't feel the nationalization bug a biting.
