A columnist from "La Naciòn" wrote an excellent commentary about the mistreatment of YPF management. These Peronistas, those in power, will run this company to the ground, make it look bad, make it look it's against poor and rich alike, and then they will take it over for half the price or less.
I think many on this board think it's just a matter of YPF working things out with the Government, some sort of rapproachment. Forget it! It ain't going to happen. These are not reasonable people...They will fight to the end, and many times against each other, until they get their way.
Gov. has one more tool. The severance tax of all profits above $42/bbl can be lowered to $30 and destroy profits and dividends. The shares would crater and they could buy it at book value. Learned over the years to stay away from crazy dictators.
That's the problem; Argentina doesn't have outside investors like Brazil, India, etc. becuase it doesn't pay its bills...It only knows how to default. In spite of having money in the National Bank it still hasn't paid the bondholders it ripped off back in 2001. There aren't any outside investors of any significance. Check the record if you don't believe me.
