Christina's move on YPF is to push the share price down to below $20 per share and then make a government solicitation to purchase up to 45% of the shares at a 15% premium. Eventually hoping to force REPSOL YPF SA (REPYY.PK) out completely!
Sob, based on simple math you are suggesting that even with a 15% ultimate premium we end up below today's price. ($19 plus $2.70 premiumon buy out = $21.70)
And this is based on something you "heard on the street?"
Where, from who --
Or is this all just a rumor (fiction) designed to justify (or achieve) your "strong sell" position?
I don't think it will work. I guess they will have to nationalize YPF(in order to steal it), a few years later they will be facing a judgement double that figure. Judging from the way the world is lining up against them, they most likely will lose big. At that point though, Christina and her bunch will probably be out and Argentina will be ins shambles. Most of the Latin countries hate the Argentines except Cuba, Bolivia, Equador and Cuba, problem is, they don't have a dime to lend Christina and are on life-support themselves. So where can Christina go for money, nowhere. They will burn through their Dollar reserves sson, then they are toast.
Buy the position at 20 something a share with what????? Pension money for an "all the eggs in one basket" approach?????
No, this was all just trying to blame YPF for the country's woes. They need YPF more than YPF needs them. This is a bunch of politicians thinking they know better about oil exploration and production. Deals will be made behind the scenes. If they were to nationalize it they would not solve any problem, beyond more control of it. Problem is a financial one, which the whole country stands a lot more to lose if they screw with there primary resource too much. However the stupidity of the approach so far is making the stock tank, it MAKES NO SENSE. They are cutting off their nose to spite their face.
This is a buy.
thats not going to work. does she think that repsol is that stupid? they are not going to sell at those depressed values. in the united states she would go to jail for this kind of manipulation
the stock is fairly valued at 31 imho if the govt will get out of the way - then more investment can come in to develop the new fields and it will be valued in the upper 40's
as well if the govt would remove the ridiculous export tarriff - this is the kind of stuff that started the civil war in the us
