"Eight new organizations have joined the Internet Radio Fairness Coalition in advance of the first congressional hearing November 28th on the Internet Radio Fairness Act. IRFC’s membership is drawn from multiple audio platforms, including broadcast organizations."
"We’re very pleased to welcome these new members to the Coalition as we work together for passage of the Internet Radio Fairness Act (IRFA) and the development of a sustainable Internet radio marketplace,” said Kurt Hanson of AccuRadio.
Pandora paid a 250 million in royalties on an annual basis. Terrestrial radio paid ZERO last year and every year for the last 100 years in royalty payments to musicians. You need to understand the argument, musicians will make much, much more with this new legislation to level this playing field..
I guess you bashers can't comprehend why it's ridiculous that internet streaming services have to pay a much higher rate than over-the-air broadcasters. It makes no sense at all.
It is basic inequity that has the royalty fee structure laid out the way it is. I see no problem with that being corrected once and for all, regardless of the streaming service. Sure this will help Pandora, but it'll help SIRI and everybody else as well.
Now if you're a Pandora short who's being massacred with these surges, then I guess you are bound to willfully reject this concept for obvious reasons.
