Albert Fried and Co's Tullo believes Apple would be better served if it acquired Pandora. It would take considerable money for Apple to build what has taken Pandora over a decade to make, especially if Apple's service is ad-supported.
Staffing a local sales force is an expensive and time-consuming proposition.
"Why wouldn't Apple want to leverage Pandora's ad business?" asked Tullo. "Pandora is a great content acquisition."
or Google, see the headline today. Amazon, Facebook and some traditional Terrestrial Broadcasters are all looking at Pandora. The mobile advertising growth is a key driver for all of these companies. Who needs Pandora the industry leader in mobile growth the most ?
P's existing proven sales-force would be a tremendous asset to Apple. An area Apple hasn't historically been good at . Imagine the results with the Apple brand $$$. Really makes sense and easily could be integrated to Itunes. Would be a tremendous growth driver to the cash rich Apple. With Apple special licensing agreements in place the sky is the limit for growth.
"Why wouldn't Apple want to leverage Pandora's ad business?"
Maybe because Apple's relationship with the various record labels is a huge advantage in negotiating favorable royalties directly with those labels, rather than taking on Pandora's cost structure and loss leading business model.
