The question now would be how good their coverage is. Given the location I can imagine that the insurance company would have only sold a policy with a fairly high deductible.
And of course policies always have terms and conditions attached to them which must be met before the policy pays off--the insurance companies naturally insist on all the terms and conditions being met or they will fight tooth and nail to keep from paying off.
A litigator friend of mine has been quite successful defending insurance companies in cases where disasters occurred but the insured failed to meet all the terms of the policy. Time will tell.
