Does anyone know the cut off. I was told by a fund manager today that $120 million market cap is the rough cut off. If so, HTCH will get in the Russell, and that will create ADDITIONAL buying, over the next 4 weeks. Can anyone confirm the situation here, as I am not totally certain?
At this point no one knows for sure. That said, it does appear likely they will just sneak in if they hold in the $6 range since that gives them a 150mil-ish market cap. In the last several years, the lowest market cap has generally ranged from 107mil to about 130mil. There is a nice table of this at the Russell site. But given the overall rise in the market the last couple months, maybe that isn't enough. Pre-2009, some years the minimums were well over 200mil.
fred, if you're talking about how do you get into the R2000 index, its pretty simple. There are some exceptions regarding foreign stocks and some other types; but basically the Russell 3000 are the 3000 largest market cap companies traded in US markets. Those ranked one to one thousand in market cap make up the Russell 1000; while those ranked 1,001 to three thousand in market cap make up the Russell 2000. Market cap is determined as of the specified date on the Russell website...I havent looked this year, just look up reconstitution on their website, and its usually right near the last day in June.
