it appears that at this point the main and only hope for celgene stockholders is wether the fda will approve thalomed. i've been following celgene for almost 2 years and i believe that any deal with basf would have happened by this time. celgene has been saying for thr past half a year that the basf deal is imminent.if it does happen it will end up being gravy. also, the other products which celgene is working on (sel cids, celgenes version of ritalin, etc) seem to be 3-5 years down the road.if the fda does not approve thalomid it could be a very quick road down for celgenes marketprice.on the positive side an approval by the fda should bring celgenes price back to the teens. let's hope for good news!
What makes you such an expert? Celgene's stock price doesn't seem to have anything to do with reality. FDA will approve any day (I'm being told) market is beginning to act that way and all the other stuff will just beef it up. My target is high teens by year end, but in a strong market & a BASF deal &/or Ritalin deal this stock can explode. Don't forget the huge off label sales that are not figured in to the picture. Entremed & Andrulis can only help push Celgene stock through the roof as new uses are discovered, & since Celgene will be the only Thalidomide player on the market for the next several years, the sales will all have to go through Celgene. This could push the stock into nubers we can't imagine at this point.
I've been in this stock just under a year. I'm not sure what this BASF deal is. What is this abbreviated for? And yes, I do agree that once Thalidomide is final with FDA.... we should see wonderful earnings. Good luck to all....
The deal with BASF will happen. But you are correct the BASF deal has been tossed around for a long time. Celgene missed the 1998 growing season so it took the sense of urgency from the deal. Don't forget up until very recently this company was madeup of mostly scientist and academics, that has changed. They also have hired a deal closer and top notch sales people.
