    Risk in Multi-Well "Pads?"

Need some expert help ... know just enough to be dangerous :-)

As I understand it, today it is preferred to drill multiple wells from the same "pad" in different directions.

What percentage of today's new drilling is that "Strategy" SOP?

If we assume "old school" or "experienced" US drillers are pretty dubious about drilling with what they perceive is a much? more risky process, might they also be concerned about losing more than one well if there was an accident drilling the "last well" on a pad?

I'm not at all clear on how close these wells heading in different directions are, and whether a blowout at one is at all likely to cascade to others on the pad.
