Just did a 5 year comparison between MHR and SFY...Five years ago $10k invested in MHR is worth about $410,000 today. Over the same period $10k invested in SFY is still worth $10k. The difference is in management. Entities like SFY exist for executives to have a secure paycheck and an easy 9-5. On the other hand MHR executives are in a hurry to build something, and stay in the forefront of the industry. This is why you see pictures Wolves Leopards, and Vipers on the website as these animals represent the aggressive nature of this organization. The SFY website should have pictures of Squirrels and Goldfish.
fastball you have hit the nail on the head. Most people do not understand that MHR is not trying to build the next Exxon, they are trying to build the next purchase for Exxon. In order to do that you will have to take risks and be highly leveraged and every penny you make goes to paying what has to be paid today and building up the asset base. They are nothing more than fishermen. They cast out the largest net they can, cull what they don't want and sell the best for a nice profit. I would say it's not often that you are successful in this but in reality it happens everyday in one industry or another its being in the right place at the right time that is the hard part for the investor. Well we are in the right spot, many of use already have big returns and with a little patience the returns we have now will on be a small part of the overall reward. GLTAL's
