Clearwire to close Reston Operation Center w/o transition plan.
Rumors have it that Clearwire is planning to close its Reston Network Operation Center by the end of the year, only weeks after announcing that the company will be using the Clear brand instead of Sprint's Xohm brand. The Reston NOC currently supports the Baltimore market with Sprint's Xohm brand of mobile WiMAX.
The decision apparently made by a single Clearwire executive only weeks before the end of the year was announced publicly. However, one insider states that the decision was made without a transition plan. Currently Clearwire and Sprint uses different technology, vendors, and WiMax spectrum.
The insider speaking in condition of anonymity worries that since the information has been made public that key employees at the Reston NOC center may not assist with the transition plan without an incentive package. Oh my, what a mess. More information will be forthcoming.
