All telecom stocks are up today, except for Clearwire. Is it because Clearwire is currently being sued by Mobile Telecommunications Technologies (MTEL) for WiMax patent infringement? I wonder if this is the reason why Clearwire was having a fund raising to battle out this in court.
Perhaps nothing but I’ve also found a webpage that shows this individual from http://www.linkedin.com/in/rkrigsman had worked for Clearwire and before that at Skytel and MTEL.
For those interested, you can find more details of this patent at:
Many patent lawsuits are initited in this ED of Texas because there have been a lot of favorable results. This is standard.
MTEL I believe is the former Skytel. I would suspect this is an IP holding company, not an operating company and they are just trying to get value from their long ago patent (they were issued in the early/mid nineties).
This isn't good for CLWR but likely immaterial unless the lawsuit hits at the heart of what CLWR or is trying to do. For that, we need some more of the technical minds to read the suit and the patent and fill us in.
even so. all that will come out of it will be such a small payment or a agreemeant that will fall well below other Patent infringements in the past.
look how the courts ordered apple to come up with a deal. you really think CLWR will be effected by this you do not belong in any stocks as they all do it.
yeah, I do not know enough to determine the "legitimacy" of the lawsuit. What I do not like on a cursory look is the "company" "MTEL" appears to be a bogus business, merely setup to exploit patent purchases for lawsuits.
I cannot find their business online. Only an address.
The MTEL LLC appears to have aquired patents from the former MTEL Corp.
The location is a suite and I cannot find a valid web site, just the lawsuit filings. It says it runs "paging" operations out of Lewisville Tx. What operations? Appears to be frivolous. Maybe someone else can find their actual business.
