Clearwire Corporation (CLWRD) Message Board

To get Clearwire, you have to get Sprint first

That's what Softbank did. They offered $20B for control of Sprint.

Now, whoever wants Clearwire bad enough is going to have to meet or outbid Softbank's offer for control of Sprint. If someone other than Softbank wants Clearwire bad enough, it's going to cost them at least $40B.

    • A Clearwire buyer wouldn't have to actually buy Sprint, they would just have to offer Sprint enough money to make the Softbank deal pointless.

If someone offered Sprint $20B for their 50% Clearwire stake, I think they would take it. Total price for Clearwire would then be $40B.

    • You are absolutely correct! If someone wants Clearwire, they're gonna have to buy the WHOLE sprint package. AT&T bid $40 billion for t-mobile with far less customers/spectrum than sprint has. SoftBanks bid for sprint is for only $20 billion. HALF of what AT&T offered for Tmobile!
