S: No Network Vison without CLWR Plain & Simple !!

In September 2012, Nokia Siemens Networks successfully completed the 19th site upgrade from TD-SCDMA to TD-LTE and conducted the first TD-LTE call in the dual mode field trial network of China Mobile's Beijing branch. This is a clear sign of progress in the TD-LTE evolution in China where Nokia Siemens Networks is helping to lead the way with upgrades of the existing 1.9 GHz frequency TD-SCDMA technology to TD-LTE.

Nokia Siemens Networks demonstrated software upgrade of TD-SCDMA radio to TD-LTE and also showcased the 1.9GHz + 2.6GHz single site TD-LTE solution for reducing the site costs of China Mobile.

This video shows the highlights of how Sprint hopes to use Clearwire MASSIVE spectrum to implement a cost effective tri-frequency single site TD-LTE / FDD-LTE solution.

None of which will happen without Clearwire and that's a fact-jack!

    • Please forward this information to Mount Kellett Capital. They own over 50 million shares of Clearwire and sent a letter to Clearwire's board. In today's news. Seems they are itching for a lawsuit but are keeping mum for now. This information may be a vital piece of information. Really the board should already know about this as Clearwire has an agreement with China Mobile. Collusion with Sprint may have to be proven in court to completely end Sprint's bullying and unethical tactics regarding Clearwire.

    • Your point being that CLWR spectrum is worth more than the current bid. That's what smart buyers (SB/S) do, buy low in the hope of selling high.

The question for the courts, has S manipulated the price ?

      • Think about it. S loaded CLWR's B of D's with members that have allegiance to the wishes of Sprint. When they agreed to sell to S for the 2.97/share this was collusion which is a state and a federal crime.
No one has mentioned this. How else do you justify such a rapid agreement to accept the bid of Sprint. Some analysts have estimated that the value of CLWR's spectrum is worth upto 31 billion dollars.
I personally feel that THERE WAS HANKY PANKY GOING ON. This deal needs more investigation.

    • From the mouth of the expert......
Clearwire's 4G TDD-LTE Network will be unlike any other in the wireless industry. With 160MHz of wireless spectrum on average in some of the largest markets in the United States, Clearwire will be able to deliver more capacity to high-density, high-demand markets than other wireless networks. In 2012, IDC highlighted Clearwire's spectrum position in a report and noted that other wireless companies are already seeing a time when they reach full capacity on their networks.

The Clearwire LTE network will target densely populated, urban areas where demand for mobile broadband is high. Our 4G LTE network will use Time Division Duplex (TDD) LTE technology and reuse our existing all-IP network architecture, which will yield savings on capital expenses.

"This is the future of mobile broadband," says Dr. John Saw, Clearwire's Chief Technology Officer. "We believe our LTE Advanced-ready network design, which leverages our deep spectrum with wide channels, can achieve greater speeds and capacity than other networks. We believe Clearwire is the only carrier with the unencumbered spectrum portfolio required to achieve this level of speed and capacity in the United States."

"In addition, the 2.5 GHz spectrum band and TDD-LTE technology that we have chosen has rapidly become a common configuration worldwide for 4G deployments, creating a potentially robust, cost-effective and global ecosystem that could serve billions of devices," Saw added. "We anticipate that the economies of scale derived from this global ecosystem will act as a catalyst for the development of thousands of low-cost devices and applications."

      LTE Advanced
LTE Advanced is a 4G technical standard that calls for peak download mobile speeds of at least 100 Mbps, which far exceeds today's commercial networks. Our LTE network will be "LTE Advanced-ready" meaning that it will use an ultra-high-capacity spectrum configuration that is superior to the typical configuration of the slower, more capacity-constrained commercial LTE network designs in the United States today.

This will include the use of multicarrier, or multichannel, wideband radios that will be carrier aggregation capable. Carrier aggregation is a key feature of LTE Advanced that will enable us to further leverage our vast spectrum depth to create larger "fat pipes" for deploying mobile broadband service.

So #$%$ Clearwire? Roll out of Sprint's bed long enough to turn-on the TD-LTE Network! You don't need permission to show network capability. Stop sandbagging!

      • Simply put Clearwire's board, top executives, and special committee would know this as it is coming from their chief technology officer. Another piece of evidence showing that the special committee's decision to agree to the lowball offer from Sprint is highly questionable and extremely poor judgement at best and fraudulent collusion with Sprint at worst.

      • "We anticipate that the economies of scale derived from this global ecosystem will act as a catalyst for the development of thousands of low-cost devices and applications."

Was Dr. John Saw already aware of the lower-end TD-LTE iPhones for China when he said this?

I can see an ad now saying buy the cheaper iPhone and get faster service than those who paid $600+ !

      • Sprint has network vision plan that includes the use of Clearwire's spectrum under current contracts. The reality is that Clearwire is already required to supply to meet their commitments or they go into breach of contracts.

The day of scheming for what Clearwire can do are, for the most part, dead. What they can do now is consider proposals to effectively be gutted by someone else who wants to pick up the pieces of the carcass and move on.
