With CLWR locked-up, a $30B weekend bid takes the entire package.
Here's the chance Apple & Google have waited for - pre-approved Largest Spectrum Holding Deal in America.
Will either buy Telco #3 at this bottom basement price???
Apple or Google could GIVE AWAY a top-line smart phone and sign-up everyone.
What a game changer this would be.
What else are Apple and Google going to do with those eroding $$$$?
The only thing left for either is the data pipe. The data pipe is the pathway to EVERYTHING!!
Bid $7 for CLWR over the weekend and $8.60 for Sprint - deal done!
Either one could offer stock and petty cash. Apple needs a deal like this - they're floundering - would show vision!
Its over, accept it and move on to the next money maker. My sprint deal is likewise almost over and I thankfully am not involved in Dell. Wonder whats next on the horizon although I admit its been a long time since I've been involved in as interesting a deal as these two are.
I agree that it might well be possible AAPL wants to own a mobile company, but the more likely purchase will by SFTBY. Apple's biggest markets right now are Japan and US. Many benefits behind the strategy that would outweigh the negatives of competing with customers. From patent filings they obviously want to be in mobile payments business, but every mobile co has their own designs and will try to block hardware mfg. from competing. The building of a global mobile business would be just the kind of disrupter Apple likes. Ownership of SFTBY (including Sprint in US and possibly Tmobile) combined with MVNO deals with Chinese carrier(s), and purchase of someone like Orange. Follow on with a mobile payments business, and global roaming that actually is economic. Game change. Mayoshi Son gave a hint when he recently said "we will be the biggest company in the world in terms of any measure".
Has Apple ever expressed interest in owning or becoming a major mobile operator? No. When Steve Jobs was alive, he soundly scoffed at the suggestion. No, the company has never said they wanted to become or take a major stake in mobile operators. Moreover, companies seldom acquire companies that are among their customers. Any moron knows that Apple, Google sell products and services to mobile operators and that they depend on them to adopt their operating and applications environment and devices. Google can venture into fiber optic because they do not compete in that space for devices, OS and advertising revenue except as OTT, over the top, which they can participate regardless.
The Sheep herder makes one final pass with staff in hand. He waves his magical staff and desperately proclaims one last offer yet to be announced. The Sheep stare aimlessly and beg their master for more information ..Please (BAAAA) Please (BAAAA).. The staff wielding broker of misinformation does not answer, just cold silence as the furry critters of ignorance wait patiently for his response. The herder has wrangled quite a few of you poor sheeple as you boast about your paper gains!! The realization that anyone could still be pumping alerts even the slowest of sheep that they have been once again harvested by the big money machine. Never once question the ridiculous claims of fame and fortune that this POS offers yet always question the honest broker, for their prospective offers no dizzy feeling of exuberance and fortuitous financial gains. You poor bastids...
Sentiment: Strong Sell
Lots of words for someone short at $1 and $2 and $3 and $4. You're worse than TR believe_schittt, wrong at every #$%$ turn but always declaring victory. Stupid bastid. I tried to help you, I was gentle and encouraged you repeatedly to cover your short even though you remained uncivil. Despite my kind words you just kept saying we were stupid for buying... I mean, how #$%$ stupid does a do you have to be to REMAIN SHORT during a bidding war? Huh???? You're a stupid and muthafukkker. And what is really cool was that you keep coming back for #$%$ whoopings; you're easy prey. Heee heee! Next time moron, listen to the idiot protector, ok???
Until the papers are filed and the stock stops trading --- THEY ARE ALL IN PLAY !!!!
CASH back in February....
Now explain to me why spending $30B (sheet man finance it!) does not make sense for any of these companies.
They're all stagnant - need new revenue streams.
Smart phones and devices are saturated.
Next bonanza is the mobile anywhere pipe and all the stuff sent over it.
MOBILE content and banking (commerce) is the prize.
And yes SB can still be knocked-out of the picture. They are waiting on CLWR, should have closed their S deal when they had the chance. As long as the shares are trading everything is in play!
