These propane MLPs have by in large been dead money plays for years. Remember it is about total return and NRGY has been a disaster for shareholders. One can only imagine how much worse it would have been had they not bought in their GP.
trying very hard not to be too condescending here. these are not dividends. if you do not know how dividends work, distributions will give you nightmares. ask your tax person before you jump into this. and be careful. there is a ton of risk here.
Hi , First of all if you wanted to get onto the stock market long term.I would go with all dividend paying stocks. Also, don't put all your eggs in one basket.Diversify your holdings . I have put together some stocks for someone calling himself Tom on VGR message board last Christmas.I have told him to put the portfolio on smartmoney .com if he bought them or not ,to see how they would do.Well he would be up over $1,000 a month at this time.Tom had plenty of money he wanted to invest. So if you buy one stock at a time ,or many at the same time be sure to diversify your holdings .One electric ,one gas,and so on .The ones I put together for Tom : PGN ,NRGY, ED, KFT, MO, EPD ,SXL ,ARLP, CLMT,SCCO ,UVE ,SPH ,LLY ,BMY ,T VZ.
Still do your own homework and be sure to diversify your holdings.
