    Wonder why Dahlberg is selling

I agree that this concept has nowhere to go. Everybody can buy used stuff all over the internet. Nobody needs pawn shops anymore.

A lot of companies in the 60's and 70's started up, sold franchise rights to things, and then disappeared. For a franchisor to be successful in the long run, the franchisees must be successful. If you really want to find out the future of this company, talk to some franchisees.

    • You're absolutely right!

I talk to their franchisees all the time, across all their concepts, throughout the country.

The ones I talk to are doing well, their businesses are growing, margins continue to be strong, there's no shortage of good used merchandise, sellers, or buyers, and they are very excited about the future.

When I ask about the Internet they tell me that its a myth that ebay and such has hurt their business. They say its the opposite because it makes buying and selling used more acceptable, fashionable, green.

Most of their customers don't want the hassel of using ebay, shipping, fraud, etc. They just want their cash or want the items, now!

They tell me some key operational issues have been addressed by WINA and others are being dealt with.

You must be talking to different owners than me. :)
