Based on previous poster's defense of why tobacco should continue to be a legalized substance wouldn't it be just as easy to argue for the legalization of whatever pleasure pursuit is not currently legal.
I would argue that tv may be safer. They have more warning labels. If used as directed you wouldn,t injest them. Little kids can't carry them. And they aren't marketed buy 2 get 1 free, or by the carton. Wouldn't it be interesting to see a side by side chemical comparison of a burning tv and a burning cigarette? Now theres a marketing idea!
In your country(US), you have the luxury of arguing about everything and anything, matters of big and small under the sun, all day and all night long without worrying about get threw in jail. So, argue as you please.
What's legal now is legal(tobacco); what's now illegal is not legal. It's the US Congress that makes the law(if I'm not mistaken). And that's why tobacco is more than only a health issue; it's essentially a political issue in the US as elsewhere in the world.
