Pardon my ignorance but how can the dividend be maintained if it's .95 per share and earnings are .74 per share? Thanx in advance for any useful information. I know RJR has 1.2 b in cash are they going to use that to maintain the .95q payment?
Like some posters have already explained ....dividend can easily be maintained by RJR's CASH FLOW...a much different animal than CASH ON HAND or EARNINGS. Of course , this can not be maintained indefinitely when you have several "bad" quarters in succession but this is an up & down industry and RJR has maintained (and raised twice) tyhe dividend in the three & 1/2 yrs I have held it.....KK
