An Independent Illumina Is Worth Far More

So lindmer, You Say $55+ Is Good Enough? I don't think so.

As someone who has owned this stock for nearly a decade I believe that would be selling this company terribly short.

An independent Illumina is worth MANY times that number to long-term shareholders.

If Roche were turned away, there would be a chance that the share price would temporarily drop to ~$25-$30 because Roche and its allies would work hard to make it happen.

But within ~2 years with an independent Illumina we would see $80 again and another split. And that would be repeated in another 2 years.

I've got time. I'll wait. JMHO

Happy I still have my original shares (and few new ones), and happy the company is working to keep the other shares out of the hands of Roche (buyback).

Bright future. I'm putting these away in a lock box--but keeping a close eye on news, of course, ;)

    • Will buy more shares as the opportunity presents.

      GLTA

    • that is the most idiotic post i've ever seen

    • I'm happy with today's announcement--all long-term shareholders should be. JMHO

The simple truth of this statement rings clear.

This is by far the best investment I have made in the last decade (have owned for ~8 years). Thank you.

    • Yup...

    • Here's you chance to load the boat with all the sub-$50 shares you desire, go for it!

    • I guess we'll see, Creamsicle...I guess we'll see.

    • Ha! Ha! Ha! Roche! Keep trying.

"...Roche mocks Illumina’s use of a quote that referred to it as “The Apple of genomics.”

Roche, which has offered $51 a share for Illumina, would like to point out the absurdity of such a comparison: (Emphasis Roche’s)

“However, there is one glaring difference between Illumina and Apple – Illumina’s MiSeq and HiSeq ARE NOT the iPhone and the iPad. Apple’s revolutionary products were huge and instantaneous commercial successes, appealing to a seemingly endless consumer base around the world. Illumina’s products on the other hand, although “revered by genomics researchers around the world,” serve a much smaller and highly regulated market. And unlike at Apple stores, crowd control of eager buyers has not been a problem for Illumina..."

You can buy an iphone for a couple hundred bucks.

      Illumina's HiSeq system is $690,000.00

You don't have to sell quite as many products at that price.

Also, Illumina continues to profit by selling kits, reagents, etc. for the life of the product.

Keep trying, Roche. You haven't found a legitimate argument yet.

I agree. Roche seems pretty lame in the give and take that has occurred so far. My hope is that Illumina manages to remain independent. But I'm a long-term investor. JMHO

    • How can writing a nice letter to all shareholders be considered as being a good negotiator?

      Your posting is sheer nonsense.
