    What Should SVU Be?

SVU has three formats. Traditional grocery, discount grocery and wholesaler. I believe only a very strong and very well capitalized company could do well in all three areas. SVU probably does not fit that bill. So SVU should pick one of the three formats and exit the other two. I wouldn't pick discount, as you're going up against Wal Mart, the gorilla in the room. I'd pick traditional grocery, as the competition such as KR and SWY is more on a level playing field with SVU. I think SVU can hold its own and prosper against that kind of competition.

    • this whole save-alot concept is so stupid why open more if they were really serious why dont they be competitve with what they got if they dont want to be competitive then sell some to franchisees and convert to save alot otherwise just sell out

    • Also with discount you forgot about Aldi which gives Wal-Mart a run for their money where they compete in the same market. If fact Wal-Mart just announced they are going to build a smaller store to compete with the Aldi format. No mention of Save a lot from Wal-Mart as a competitor.
