I work in a large data center and my company has spent about $1.5M on new servers and VMware. We currently have about 1300 servers and we're running out of space. VMW will help bring the numbers down by a factor of 10 and we'll save a whole lot of $ on electricity. VMW needs to pump the "green factor".
This is such a hot product in the IT world. Management would need to be a bunch of imbisols to spin this off and then come up with a miss on the first earnings report. If they screw this up I will sell and never come back because a great product plus shit management = shit.
Personally, I don't think there is a snowball's chance in hell that they miss. A day doesn't go by where I don't here the name VMware involved in some conversation. I have tons of friends who work for F500 companies who are all implementing the technology in some form. Even the hospital where I work uses it in workstation environments. This technology is the real deal and VMW is the only game around. Ask an IT guy if he has been to VMW training yet? He either already has or is going.
How much will they beat? That's anyone's guess, but I wouldn't be surprised if they doubled.
