Company officers and BofD members are selling capital gains everywhere now in 2012 to beat the new tax structure coming which will hit those with $250,000 earnings or profits the hardest.
My guess - this is what is happening driving good stocks down in price.
Yes, insiders can always get more shares via options. I also think that some large holders have been selling highly appreciated stocks to take advantage of the current low cap gain tax rate. Most of these shares will be bought back by January I think.
