How about 2.9% market share, competetors IBM, HP, NEC, SUNW, SGI, DELL, AAPL... to mention a few. How much cash does the competition have?? Hoe much debt do they carry?? How robust is their sales and marketing??
Meson> Any thoughts on this mornings price drop in Cray.
I once met an Englishman who worked for their Meterological Office in 2000. We were both in the north of France for the last eclipse of the century. We hit it off, Iain Banks was the favorite author of both of us. When I learned where he worked I asked if they had any Crays. I was already a long term investor. His face lit up and he raved on and on about the two they had. It would be hard to find a happier customer. Today I read this.
Those replaced crays were repeatedly referred to as 'old'. Time marches on quickly in the computer world, and machines become obsolete long before the end of their useful life. They also indicated they'd be replacing the new machines next year. Could be another cray opportunity.
I read the article, which made me curious what those machines were. They were two Cray T3Es, which came out in 1995...
It will be interesting to see what this year holds with the new lines of machines.
not sure, I thought 6.95 was a good price last week, i guess not.
I dont think anyone knows whats going on, low volume, lack of institutional buying on good news lately, you have to question that. Usually an indication of a couple of firms creating some negative sentiment on CRAY... possible hedge fund/large short position walking CRAY down.
