I actually agree that these solar panels are not DIY for the vast majority of homeowners. Westinghouse Solar Panels certainly extends a greater opportunity for DIYers like myself, and I include bargain hunter DIYers in that group of homeowners. And the bargain hunters will be watching their electric bills go up over the next 20 years under Republican Party Energy Policy. For those who can afford to pay for complete installtions, they will be picked up by installers through Lowes.
Actually the Andalay/West panels makes it easier for DIY home-owner with the built-in inverters. It converts the DC power to AC at the panel, which makes it easier/cheaper to handle/install. I haven't seen a year my utility rates dropped, regardless which Party is in power. DIYers will make their own panels for about half-price what you can buy from any manufactor. The fight will come from the various regulations to install/use home-made panels. Expense is the biggest obstacle for solar power, followed by regulations.
I can afford the risk/reward of owning WEST shares for the long. If my retirement income came from my Roth IRA, that would be another matter. I don't know how many quarters or years it will take, but this company is going to give me a reward.
"i can afford risk/reward". oh come on, i can afford a the risk reward of giving $1000 to a homeless guy on the off chance that i get into heaven for it too; but that doesn't mean i'm stupid enough to do it. Heh everyone, let's burn $10 bills to heat our house just because we can afford it. Any moronic takers???
No bashing, just fact, you are going to lose your hard eanred money being long this company. Just because solar is a great long term play does not mean that West is. Please take the 40 cents now before you get 10 or 20 cents later.
Please look at YGE or RSOL, among others, i you want solar exposure. RSOL will be installing millions of solar panels in canada eventually. Installing solar is NOT a do it yourself type of project for the vast majority of people, and certainly not the people that can afford panels right now.
Seriously, it is the holiday season and i'm being nice here, not bashing. I do like to bash this co because they have cost many people lots of money. Take the 40 cents. Happy Holidays and best wishes for you and your wife.
In my opinion, Canadian's will lead installing residential Westinghouse Solar Panels. Retail pickup at Lowes will lead to a pickup for installers across the U.S. Just like Canadian predictions of 3.5% annual residential utility cost increases for 20 years, Republican energy policy will push up U.S. residential utility prices. It isn't just Westinghouse Solar Panels knowing a windfall will be coming. I am buying for the long of it.
