ok, here is my idea on taxes.. How to put more money into OUR ECONOMY (Not Japan's, or China's)

    1) Start a Flat tax of about 5% on income over poverty (around what 60K today)
-- This would put more CASH into a persons pocket to spend... simple, but IT WORKS!
    2) Start a Federal Sales tax (not sure about the percentage, and not on food and a few other items)
-- This way people pay tax when they want.
    3) Add an import tax above the sales tax to ALL products that come into this country (which includes cars assembled outside the US by US companies).
-- This would do a number of things...
    a) It would put imports in the same price range as American made products, This would take price out of the purchase decision.
    b) it would encourage foreign companies to build more products here.
    c) The government could then put more money into unemployment benefits for industries like textiles, which are all but gone in this country.
    4) Let me invest MY MONEY for Soc Security... the government sucks at this.
-- I'm still trying to fit this one in, but I just want to control my money.

    My Bottom line assumptions are.....
    1) American companies can compete on quality and price, but we need a more equal playing field with countries like China and the far east.
    2) The more money people have the more they spend.

    Any thoughts?
