The min wage has not gone up since 1997. Inflation has, profit have.
Its ignorant to think that just b/c min wage goes up that ALL prices go up. This is simply not the case as all products , goods and services are not performed by min wage workers.
On top of that if prices go up you can simply not purchase that product. Market supply and demand will keep prices in check. If demand out strips supply then inflation will occur.
Another auguement could be that raising the wage will create more jobs. yes, more jobs. More wages = money saved for education , more businesses opened, more money invested.
What really needs to occur is a floating min wage based on inflation like oregon has. Every year oregon raises the min wage to compensate for inflation. Its quite nice and fair to employees.
If your against min wage no matter how rich or poor you may be then your in favor of legalized slavery and you should go out and try to support your self or a family for that matter on 5.15 per hour. I guarantee after 1 year of that crap you will have a better outlook.

A dollar is a measure of productivity. The employer pays the employee a certain amount of $$ in exchange for a cerrtain an amount of productivity - Econ 101.
What really needs to occur is for people to get educated so they can acquire jobs that pay well. 'Minimum wage' jobs are called that because anyone can perform them.
You might want to explain how one can 'support themself or a family' even if you raise the minimum wage to $10 an hour, because essentially you would become merely a higher class minimum wage employee and the rest of us would pay a lot more for hamburgers, and some would quit buying them altogether, making you a candidate for a layoff...
