15.00 an hour is the lowest they should go. It is not worth working for less than 14 -15 dollars per hour. UAW may settle to work for that amount.
Wages should reflect the product which in turn is judged by the demand for it. 15$ per hour seems pretty steep to me in this case. I think a good starting wage of $9.50 would be more apropriate and if the quality and demand for the product increased then so could the wages but right now the quality and product line is considered in the basement by most Americans and overseas. Any real improvements will take about 10 years before they are recognized and trusted by the public. Just the nature of the business.
For an uneducated job #15 an hour is terrific pay. I have always thought it was rediculous that a high school drop out could hire into the Big 3 and make more money than a four year degree earning individual. Put part in....hit buttons....take part out....grab another part.....a monkey could do it. Take the $15 an hour and be happy you're not scrambling out there trying to make it on $10-$12 an hour like most folks.
True, when you were making $30/hr and you have to cut that in half, 15/hr is not very good. Just think if BK follows and you have no 15/hr job, and you have to sink to a MW. Think how bad that is going to be.
UAW get in line and buy the Big 3, operate as a union owned company. Your best bet.
hourly wage has NOTHING to do with it. What is the labor cost TOTAL per unit of production.
Get that to match the non US auto companies or else UAW workers will not be in the Auto industry - thats a fact jack
I think thw UAW should definitely negotiate concessions but I think that should be left to management and the unions to figure out, especially since the government would be the first to be repaid.
Once the economy rebounds and contracts are up for negotiation, I think management and the company would be better served by having a cooperative union. Does GM and Ford have profit sharing? Maybe they should institute or enhance
me and my boyz b lovin da chicago white soxs. down with them ceos. we not b needed no business cauze we not a bees interested in workin for da man. we get ourz for free. god bless da brother obomba and da acorn boyz.
15/hour is great money for someone that chooses to not educate themselves. Real good money. Plus benefits...
just get rid of UAW completely.
Funny, you hear Franks, Dodd and the boys bich about CEO pay. I have yet to hear any of them bich about the UAW high ups who steal more money then any CEO's get. Why don't they do something about that? pretty sad that some Americans vote for a party that wants to take over every aspect of the private markets they can.
