Lindsey Graham Tells Tea party To Shove Their "No Tax Pledge"...
WASHINGTON (UPI)- As a conservative Republican, Lindsy Graham has nevr had a problem promising not to raise taxes. like almost every other Republican member of Congress, he has signed the anti-tax pledge put forth by Grover Norquist's group Americans for Tax Reform.
But now Graham is having buyers remorse and now say that the debt crisis is so severe that tax pledge is worthless, and has got to go.
The Americans for Tax Reform pledge commits signers to "oppose any and all efforts to increase income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses...and oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates."
Graham said some deductions should free up mpney to lower tax rates--but also pay down the U.S. debt.
"I just think it makes alot of sense. And if I am willing to do that as a Republican, I've crossed a rubicon," said Graham.
Graham said that more and more Republicans are rethinking the no tax pledge and are believed to aligning themselves with graham.
"We're so far in debt, that if we don't give up the ideological ground, the country is going to sink no matter which party is in power," said Graham.
It'a already sunk no matter which party is in charge, where have you been? 120 trillion in debt, no country can climb out of that. You know i followed that whole storry, and i'm pretty sure Grahman didn't ever tell anybody to shove anything. And none of the "Tea Party" candidates will ever waver from their pledge.
