You obviously don't know much US history, especially around the Civil War times.
President Obama's face on the news gives our Dixiecrat neighbors fits no matter what he does. Too bad, they have been a drag on the United States for its whole existence and parasitic since the Civil War, they can leave. Obama's predecessor deliberately devastated the economy with a well executed Starve The Beast attack on Washington he isn't given enough credit for if credit is the word.
Financial Crashes always take a longer time to recover from than 'normal' business cycle downturns and this one will take even longer because of the real distortion and economic damage of the Bush II years, especially to Main Street. Main Street is the real, net jobs producing American economy. The situation was exacerbated by the financial sector buying away from Congress the hard-won banking regulations written after the Depression.
