"Democracy will cease to exist when you take from those who work & give to those who do not work".
Thomas Jefferson
Bogus Jefferson quote. Apparently it can't be found in any of his writings.
You made a bogus quote of a bogus quote, that is, you original was "The Democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.". But that's a bogus Jefferson quote too. Your revision is interesting. You want all the unemployed killed off? Should they have an expiration date?
You are all trying to quote the Bible in one form or another. I like what God told Abram and Moses, "If you don't work, you don't eat". Why should the able bodied be on a welfare handout?
Since BO wants a 'socialist country', he has a minimum wage law, all of the able bodied should be provided a meaningful MW job. All of the benefits of welfare should not exceed MW. Period.
Looki it up zippy! Now, try sticking to the factual subject at hand. "killed"??? Changing the subject is an old Obama trick. Now go back to sleep after you collect your welfare & food stamps. Ever hear of working for a living zippy?
“The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.”
― Alexis de Tocqueville (in "Democracy in America" - 1835)
Another bogus quote from the ranting right parallel universe.
Wiki's version -
"The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money."
This is a variant expression of a sentiment which is often attributed to Tocqueville or Alexander Fraser Tytler, but the earliest known occurrence is as an unsourced attribution to Tytler in "This is the Hard Core of Freedom" by Elmer T. Peterson in The Daily Oklahoman (9 December 1951): "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy."
Republican history is reminding me more and more of the bogus histories the Confederates wrote for themselves before and after the Civil War. They just invent these quotes from historic figures to justify and legitimize themselves. They have to go to a lot of trouble to stay within their little blogosphere - it's so easy to do Web searches on quote strings these days. As soon as their kids learn in school to do a Web search their ability to propagate lies to their next generation is gone. Maybe they can consult with the CCP about the tech in the Great Firewall of China.
Mission accomplished, Obama!
