Corporate taxes get passed down to the smallest consumer, right down to the kid that buys the 25 Cent Gumball!
Everyone pays taxes even the very poorest of the poor in America.
Sure not everyone pays income tax, but the consumer in the end pays all the taxes indirectly!
This is something all Americans need to realize, the government is in everyone's pocket, no such thing as anything for free!
Gov't is smart. Little people are brain washed to believe corps pay taxes. They don't, only customers pay. Raise corps taxes, corps raise prices.
Raise MW, every one suffers.
Think about this. I have listened to idiot politicians wanting to raise taxes so people can have more money to spend and gov't more from taxes. If this is the goal lets get smart and stop far-ing around and trickle the MW up, just go ahead and raise it to $1,000/hour. Everyone would be rich, lots of money to spend, gov't collects zillions. Only one group would be hurt, those on fixed incomes.
What idiot leaders we elect.
Corporate tax rates are set so high so that Congress can auction off the loopholes. Congress is not a passive participant in the Washington Pay-To-Play system. Remember how we have to keep going through the R&D tax credits dance again and again and again? Congress is shaking them down. That's what got Silicon Valley into the Washington game. Fix Pay-To-Play and many distortions of the economy will go away as real capitalism /markets asserts itself.
You guys are not Conservatives at all. You just like crony capitalism, plutocracy, and hierarchical authority. You carry water for people who would put you in the street and wouldn't give you the time of day. Obama is actually straddles the American political center as Clinton came to do. That's why they beat you as Republicans abandoned the center and reason as well. Obama's picture drives many of you utterly nuts.
OF COURSE taxes show up in pricing. But take a look at annual reports and see what the taxes really amount to. The same sort of considerations apply at the state level. Except that Main Street can get killed. The Republicans deserted them for Wall Street years ago. The Pay-To-Play system leads to corporations also buying private profit but socialized losses and expenses. They also get to buy subsidies to export jobs over what would have happened anyway.
Wake up, and be careful of what you wish for.
It's hilariously simple really. People are in business to make money. There is no difference between the price of copper going up for example or the price of taxes. Either way, the company needs to either fire (or not hire) people, pass it on to the consumer, or cut pay or growth, none of which helps anyone.
